Pleurotus elongatipes Pk. Cap 2-4cm across, convex becoming flatter; creamy or tinged pinkish with watery spots over the disc; moist, smooth, hairless. Gills adnexed or notched, subdistant, broad; creamy buff to pinkish buff. Stem 40-220 x 15-25mm, sometimes gradually tapering toward the base and often curved or bent, becoming soft and hollow; white; smooth, hairless except at the base. Flesh quite thick and firm; white to creamy or pinkish buff. Spores subglobose, smooth, 4-5.5 x 3.5-4.5µ. Deposit buff-colored. Habitat singly or in dense clusters at the base of living hardwood trees or on decaying logs and stumps. Rare. Found in northern North America. Season August-October. Edible |
